As the Christmas decorating experts we have come up with a few ideas for decorating with different colours this Christmas. When choosing a colour scheme for your Christmas décor there are tones of different things you can do to transform your home this Christmas.
When thinking of Christmas, the first colour that comes to mind during the holiday season is red. For the majority of the year, red is the colour of passion or romance. But once winter comes around, red is unmistakably the colour of Christmas. The colour red features in many of our favourite Christmas traditions and stories, Rudolph’s nose, Santa’s suit, candy canes and much, much more. There are a whole bunch of ideas for stylish Christmas red décor that will make your Christmas décor traditional but luxurious. Do not just decorate the Christmas tree with red decorations! Decorate the walls, mantelpiece, and table, with red tableware, red centrepieces, and red tablecloths. Use red flowers, candles, red stockings, and red baubles to add finishing touches to your space. In other rooms, you can also create a cosy holiday atmosphere by merely adding red linen, red bedspread, or red cushions.
Gold decorations are a must-have at Christmas! Using the colour gold in your Christmas décor provides a classy and luxurious look. The versatility of this colour means that it’s perfect for all of your holiday needs and goes with almost anything. The gold décor makes a bold statement, and maybe the ideal change that you are looking for in your decorations this year. Everything looks better with gold; There is an an effortless elegance and beauty with gold Christmas ornaments. It is amazing how a bunch of gold baubles can make a corner look very festive. Bring your holiday decorations up a notch this year with this grand decorating idea and go all out with bright gold as your theme colour. Mix and match with gold Christmas baubles, pinecones, bows, and poinsettia flowers and leaves. The more textures and sizes of décor you put in, the better!
Silver is a colour of classic and modern beauty which intuitively inspires a promise of wealth and prestige; this is the kind of atmosphere a silver Christmas can bring to your home. Some of our favourite decorating ideas include adding silver decorations to garlands and wreaths to create a magical colour contrast and elevate your holiday décor. Silver figurines, tree toppers, ornaments, lights, pillows, and other household items can complement almost every different colour in your home, and some can even be left out or used when Christmas is over. Christmas tree balls, or bauble ornaments, are a staple of holiday decorating. Silver Christmas decorations are always sleek and have timeless appeal.
We love blue in all its shades; it is calming and beautiful. Blue is one of the most natural winter colours and is very trendy for décor. You could have a full-blown blue-themed Christmas this year with a beautiful and magical blue Christmas tree. Spice it up with baubles of different textures and finishes. Pairing blue and white decorations together is a match made in heaven and will transform your home into a winter wonderland. A subtle and classy way to inject blue decorations is to use baubles, tinsel and candles on mantle pieces, stairs, and bookshelves.
Pink can be considered an unusual colour for Christmas, but using pink is a way to stand out. Pink has a lot of different shades that will easily fit a glam or vintage style. You could choose hot pink, dusty or pale pink, blush or fuchsia. Pink ornaments blend well with gold, silver or ivory, so try various colour combos. If you want to make a bold statement, choose a pink Christmas tree! It can be decorated with pink, silver, white or gold ornaments for a soft look. For a subtler effect, you could use Pink pillows, pink candles, and pink pinecone wreaths.
Using the colour purple can add a touch of playful mischief in your tree with strategically placed purple baubles and purple Christmas decorations. Opt for brightly coloured purple baubles to showcase your modern unconventional personality. Our collection of purple baubles and Christmas decorations will provide a whimsical element within your tree decoration assortment.
Black is a new black; it’s pure classic that can be mixed and matched and incorporated into every Christmas style. Black goes well with white, ivory, gold, silver, navy, pink, fuchsia and almost any colour you can imagine, and it always looks chic! Black looks stunning with gold and silver, so if you opt for these colour of ornaments and garlands, you will make your Christmas tree sophisticated. Think that black is only for goths? Nothing of the kind! Black is a classic that can be easily turned into glam and glitz, and a black Christmas tree will quickly prove that to you. Choose glitzy glam ornaments in gold, silver, pastel pink and blue, or on the contrary: hot fuchsia, pink, red and purple ones to make the tree stand out.
A white Christmas décor gives an appearance of a light and airy room, full of dimension and depth. Using white decorations has become increasingly popular over recent years. Trends like minimalism and Scandinavian are meaning more and more people are using white decorations as their primary Christmas colour. Crispy white trees look elegant and give you a lot of opportunities to have fun with your Christmas style. Choose pastel or shiny ornaments for a glam look and make a corresponding garland with the same décor. For a chic modern look, use a white or flocked Christmas tree and incorporate black and white ornaments, or even metallic decorations. If you love bold colours, a white tree is what you need because colourful ornaments will stand out more on a white tree. Using the colour white is a trendy yet essential Christmas colour.
Opting for green Christmas decorations is a charming way to mimic the great outdoors. Choose vibrant green Christmas baubles to blend into your tree to provide an understated but pleasant sparkle. Green baubles attract and refract daylight to direct a nature-inspired glowing quality around the living room. You can mix and match green Christmas decorations with loads of different colours, green and gold or even green and black; these colour combinations make such to make a statement and make your Christmas decorations unforgettable.

About six years ago I was working as a commercial concrete layer. The actual work I was doing was very Seasonal; busy in the summer months, but less so during the winter- as it was very weather dependant. Which is how I first found out about Fizzco. A friend suggested I get in contact with a firm from Skipton about working through the Christmas period on Christmas decorations. I was a bit apprehensive about this, as I first though there cannot be much work in putting up Christmas decorations, how wrong could I be!
I jumped at the chance not really knowing what was ahead of me. I moved over 90 miles from Yorkshire to Lincolnshire and am now in my third year of permanent all year-round Christmas, and it’s probably the biggest and best decision I have made.
The one thing that does annoy me, is when I tell people what I do for a living, they always ask…what do you do the rest of the year?? If only they knew…

The Fizzco Projects team have carried out our annual trip to Christmas World in Frankfurt to make purchases and review the upcoming trends for the 2018 festive season. Travelling on mass team members scoured the vast halls (367,000 m²!) of Frankfurt Messe exhibition space, looking to source bespoke pieces whilst keeping au fait with all the latest trends including colours and texture.
Our observations from the 2018 Christmas World show include the following:
- Heavily flocked (snowy) trees seemed to feature throughout the show, dominating all tree stands beating the trusty green into retreat.
- In addition to flocked trees textured decorations also seem popular with velvet, felt and leather all making a notable appearance.
- A combination of rich opulent deep blues, dusky pinks coupled with slate grey and bold burgundy.
- The last few flamingos and unicorns could be found if looking hard, however hot air balloons, alpacas and balloons seemed a far more popular offering.
